Rayuela was formed at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Zurich where its members studied in the master classes of Matthias Weilenmann and Kees Boeke. With its broad repertoire covering music of the Middle Ages through to contemporary music and a colourful, diversified programme with many self-arranged pieces, RAYUELA soon became one of the internationally most sought-after recorder ensembles.
Prizes at international competitions soon followed: Calw International Recorder Competition (Germany), Kiwanis Chamber Music Prize Zurich (Switzerland), Swiss Orpheus Promotions Prize, Migros Chamber Music Prize and the International Festival for Early Music on Historic Instruments 'Premio Bonporti' in Rovereto/Italy. RAYUELA has since impressed audiences and critics alike at numerous concerts at home and abroad and is often invited to tour and attend workshops in Germany, Austria, Italy, Poland, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Russia, Morocco, Brazil and Cuba amongst others. The ensemble made its debut in its present formation and met with huge success in 2002 at a concert at the Kremlin in Moscow.
In addition to the trio programme, RAYUELA also realises collaborative projects together with other musicians and commissions work in order to further expand upon the contemporary recorder-trio repertoire.
RAYUELA recorded chamber music works by Kees Boeke on the CD 'Monografia' for the Italian 'o-live-music' label; the programme 'RAYUELA' was recorded in May 2005 by the same label. The spring of 2007 will see the new programme 'GRENZENLOS' and the purely-trio's CD 'CHIAROSCURO' will be released in the autumn of 2007.
