Biografia
Gilles Landini was born in Geneva and it was in this town that he first studied as a student of the student of the famous Argentinian piano school Susanna Sierro-Rigoli. He then studied at Geneva Conservatory under the tutelage of Henri Gautier and received his first degree as a professional piano player.
In 1987 he won, by unanimous decision, the famous Gabrielle Agostini bursary. He attended master classes headed by Edith Fischer and became a brilliant virtuoso in 1991 when he received the first prize with 'very good' and congratulations from the jury. Landini is a member of the Swiss Society of Music Pedagogy. Shortly after he won a prize at the 'Orpheus' competition in Zurich.
During more recent years he has performed in most of the major Swiss cities and abroad (Venice, Brussels, France and Germany), worthy of particular mention are his concerts at the prisons Bellechasse and Bochuz following an invitation by 'Musique / Espérance', founded by Miguel-Angel Estrella. Parallel to his concerting activities Landini also heads course in music history, aural training and work analysis for music lovers with no particular knowledge of music. He also heads the same courses at the conservatory in Neuchâtel.
Landini is also a teacher at the Swiss Society of Music Pedagogy where he teaches the professional students. He is an expert at this institution and a member of the Geneva Committee. From September 1996 until June 2001 he contributed on a weekly basis to the series 'Zig-Zag Café', broadcast on Télévision Suisse Romande and whose aim it was to popularise music.
In June 2001 he made his directing debut with a production of the opera Bluebeards Castle by Bartók. In 2003 came his second production with 'La voix humaine' by Poulenc, based on texts by Cocteau, in the version for voice and piano, in which he also plays the piano part. In 2004 he produced the world premiere of the opera 'Ginevra degli Almieri' by Raffaello Diambrini-Palazzi.
