Born in Lugano, Denise Fedeli graduated in piano, composition and conducting from the G. Verdi Conservatory in Milan.
She conducted the following orchestras: the Philharmonia Hungarica, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Sinfonica Siciliana, the Regionale Toscana, the Münster Sinfonieorchester, the Sinfonica dell'Emilia-Romagna A.Toscanini, the Orchestra da camera di Padova e del Veneto, the Sinfonica di Bari, the Haydn di Bolzano e Trento, the Angelicum e Pomeriggi Musicali di Milano, the MilanoClassica, the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, the Accademia I Filarmonici di Verona, the Minsk Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Bulgarian Radio in Sofia, the Panstwowa Filharmonia in Olsztyn, the Filarmonica de Stat Oradea, the Biel Symphonic Orchestra.
She is also active in the field of opera; amongst other things she has toured the major Swiss theatres with 17 performances of Rossini's 'Cenerentola'. She conducted many musical theatre pieces of the 20th century including Poulenc's 'La voix humaine', Rota's 'Notte di un nevrastenico' (directed by Piera degli Esposti) and Schönberg's 'Pierrot Lunaire' (a scenic version with Maddalena Crippa was resumed at the Edinburgh Festival).
Denise Fedeli has conducted many world premieres in the field of contemporary music (e.g. Azio Corghi's 'Amorsacro/Amorprofano' at the Teatro Regio di Parma with the soprano Cecilia Gasdia), collaborated with Florence's 'Laboratorio Tempo Reale' and participated at the 'Di Nuovo Musica' within the framework of the festival 'Wien Modern'.
For years she has worked in close collaboration with the RTSI (Radio and Television of the Italian speaking part of Switzerland) either as a curator and presenter of musical programmes or as a musical assistant.
Denise Fedeli teaches at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano since 1991.
