Initially a language teacher and self-taught jazz pianist Fredi Lüscher has been a professional musician since 1985. His main interest lies, besides the art of improvisation, with the compositions of Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk, Carla Bley, Jimmy Giuffre amongst others. Lüscher performs in a duo together with Nathanael Su and in a trio together with Marco Kaeppeli and Daniel Studer.

Since 2000 - Contributions to the 'mhs aktuell' (Lucerne School of Music's newsletter)
2002 - Project manager of a research project at Lucerne School of Music (faculty III) into the aquisition of jazz and improvised music by the stations of the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation and composer of a study bearing the same name.
Fredi Lüscher occasionally writes a column with a musical and cultural theme in the WOZ newspaper.
