Henri Scolari was born in Geneva and instructed in piano, music theory and composition under Louis Piantoni and conducting under Samuel Baud-Bovy. He attended the master classes of Georges Migot, Arthur Honegger and René Leibowitz in Paris and attended a seminar by Henri Pousseur.
From 1962 until 1986 he was musical director, responsible for the programme, and later producer of 'Radio-Télévision Suisse Romande' in the Lausanne studios. From 1980 until 1989 he was president of the Lausanne section of the 'Societé Internationale de Musique Contemporaine' (International Society for Contemporary Music). He has been an expert at Lausanne Conservatory since 1988. His work catalogue was published in 1993 by the canton and University of Lausanne (BCU).
