Biography

The Swiss pianist Simone Keller was born and raised in Weinfelden. She studied at the Musikhochschule Zürich under the tutelage of Hans-Jürg Strub and graduated as a professional musician. She attended various master classes including those of Andrzej Jasinski, Siegfried Mauser, Karl Engel, Hartmut Höll and Werner Bärtschi et al. She additionally studied the pianoforte under the tutelage of Michael Biehl, the organ with André Manz and attended the lied classes of Daniel Fueter and Hans Adolfsen. Simone has received various prizes and awards including first prize at the Landolt Piano Competition, second prize at the Nans Ninck Piano Competition and the EMCY Chamber Music Prize for Lied Accompaniment at the European Classic Festival Ruhr.
Simone Keller performs at home and abroad in various styles either solo or together with various formations including the Collegium Novum, the Musikkollegium Winterthur and the Ensemble TaG. She is the Founding member and co-director of the TZARA ensemble and the founding member of the Tafeal Trio and Ensemble Umi. She has a particular interest in contemporary music. She has commissioned and performed the world premieres of numerous new pieces. Simone can also be heard and seen performing in various productions by Swiss Television, Swiss Radio and numerous theatrical pieces.
Simone Keller is the initiator and director of the Weinfeld Music Festival and took over the position of artistic director at the Galerie für AUG+OHR in Zurich in January 2008.
