A pupil of Richard Sturzenegger (Bern) and Pierre Fournier (Paris), Walter Haefeli was a long-term solo cellist with the Beromünster Radio Orchestra in Zurich until he filled the same position in the St Gallen Symphony Orchestra. He has performed internationally as a soloist and chamber musician and was a member of the 'Piraccini-Stucki-Streichquartett'. He plays mainly as a chamber musician and "still with great joy".
