Biography
* 1945.
Henri Baeriswyl studied harmonics theory, counterpoint and orchestration at the Conservatoire de Fribourg in Switzerland. Inspired by his work as a choirmaster in Fribourg and Neuchâtel, he started writing choral a-cappella pieces and later works for soli, choirs and various orchestral formations.
Knowing of the gap between the audience and the creator of contemporary classical music, he always tried to find a moderate way and never regarded it as beneath himself to write works standing in the tradition of tonality.
Without being carried away by present sterile conceptual exhibitionism, his most recent compositions, mainly chamber music (Symphonie de chambre, Quatuor à cordes, septuor, oratorio "Sub lumina prima"), present a musical language that tends towards a harmonic synthesis between creative freedom and is inspired by the rich palette of emotions endured by the human soul and mastered consciousness during the creative act.
The essential constant of his creative proceedings is his devotion to sense and to share beauty, emotion and joy.
Besides composing he spends most of his time teaching at the Conservatoire de Fribourg.
