Biography
* 20. 05. 1963.
Michael Heisch was born in Schaffhausen; he lives and works in Zurich. After preliminary studies at the school of design he studied theory under Martin Neukom and Christian Bänninger and choral conducting and conducting under Christian Siegmann at the private school for music theory in Zurich. He continued his studies in composition under Johannes Schöllhorn and Hans Ulrich Lehmann. He was first encouraged in the field of electronic music by Martin Neukom and later while studying under Gerald Bennett. Michael Heisch received an accolade for his work 'Edison' from the 'Concorso Internationale Luigi Russolo' in Varese (Italy). After 1994 he developed numerous adaptations for various scores in connection with stage music performances. As well as being a member of the composers' council of the 'Schweizerischen Zentrum für Computermusik' (Swiss Centre for Computer Music), he can also be heard as contrabass in various performances and music ensembles.
Michael Heisch has received financial awards from various institutions including awards for the project 'missa digitalis', for which he is composer and artistic director. His creative versatility leads him time and again into the world of the visual arts.
