Biography
* 06. 08. 1993 Mexiko, Schweiz/Mexiko.

Ricardo Acosta’s music has been described as having great sensitivity with coloring and shading that creates an aura of his own with no dazzle for dazzle’s sake (East Hampton Star). He is a pianist, conductor, composer born in Torreon, Mexico and resides now in Bern Switzerland. He has received many national and international awards in compstitions, scholarships and has had opportunities to work with diverse and fascinating personalities of the music world like Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Steve Reich and the soloists of the Yehudi Menuhin Academy to name a few.
Reich and the soloists of the Yehudi Menuhin Academy to name a few.
Diverse projects have led Acosta to travel the world in concert tours to countries like the U.S.A, Czech Republic, Thailand, Russia, France and Switzerland as a solosit, or chamber musician. In his three disciplines he has collaborated with orchestras like the State Symphonic Orchestra of Moscow (Russia), Bern Sinfonietta (Switzerland), Proton Ensemble (Switzerland), Musica Nova (USA), Eastman Philharmonia (USA) with conductors like Brad Lubman, Enno Poppe, Neil Varon, Dmitri Orlov, and Patrick Jüdt.
Always trying to bring back old practices and find new ones, the programs of Ricardo Acosta are innovative and interesting, such examples include performances of Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven concertos as conductor with improvisations and cadenzas of his own. As well as eclectic programs that run through an idea and look to combine forgotten pieces from old masters as well as new pieces for piano by Latin-American, European and American composers to bring the audience experience to the highest vibrant point possible.
in 2016 he finished both Piano and Composition majors at the prestigious Eastman School of Music under famed pedagogue and winner of the Van-Cliburn Competition Barry Snyder in Piano and Ricardo Zohn-Muldoon/Carlos Sanchez-Gutierrez in Composition. In that same year he was recipient of the Swiss Excellence in Arts Scholarship to pursue a Masters degree in the University for the Arts in Bern under Professor Tomasz Herbut, plus a minor with Florian Ziemen in orchestral conducting. He is a piano teacher at the Musik Konservatorium Bern since 2020 and also the Korrrepetitor of Mr. Ziemen’s orchestral conducting class and the conductor and musical director of the Workshopera Bern. Since 2020 he is also professor of piano at the Konservatorium Bern.
