Biography

Bührer studied counterpoint and composition under Paul Müller and piano under Walter Frey and Karl Engel at the Zurich School of Music, graduating as teacher of theory and piano. He subsequently studied organ under Eduard Müller at the Basel School of Music where he graduated with a soloist's diploma. He then went on to study organ under Gaston Litaize and instrumentation and composition under Pierre Wissmer in Paris. He teaches primarily in the music theory disciplines, including in the church music department of the Zurich School of Music. He plays the church organ in Wallisellen and performs in concerts as a pianist and organist.
