The tenor saxophone is the viola of the classical saxophone quartet and simultaneously the voice of John Coltrane and many others. The four saxophonists set themselves the same challenges as those incurred by 'Tenor Conclave', an ensemble consisting of four other musicians from another time and location, the intentions in this case however are entirely different. The saxophone quartet is renowned, the four musicians have each completed a classical course of musical education and are now dedicated intensively to the performance of contemporary (saxophone) music.
