Ensemble ö!
The Ensemble ö! was founded by David Sontòn Caflisch in the spring of 2002 as the successor formation of the then existing chamber ensemble 'musicuria'. Comprising every individual orchestral instrument, this soloist ensemble's centre of interest lies in the performance of new and contemporary music, with a particular preference for chamber music and solo literature. The ensemble often performs in its entirety while pursuing this interest.
The Ensemble ö! and the 'Churer Konzertreihe ö!', a series of 6 concerts per season performed in the town of Chur, were founded simultaneously. The 'Churer Konzertreihe ö!' initially took place at the Marsöl cultural centre before being integrated during season 06/07 into the seasonal programme of the theatre in Chur, where the concerts now take place.
In addition to the concerts in Chur, the ensemble has also performed in various cities at home and abroad.
As the resident ensemble of the Hotel Therme Vals, the Ensemble ö! was responsible for designing the hotel's contemporary music programme from 2002 to 2008. The Ensemble ö! also enjoyed a partnership with the 'Fondation Nestlé pour l'art' from 2010 until 2012. This partnership led to the creation by the ensemble of the 'Moment-Monument Grischun' series, which has continued beyond the end of the partnership. This series of concerts is dedicated to the theme of music and architecture, whereby a wide variety of buildings from various epochs are chosen as the venue of a programme conceived solely for that building. The project is supported by the musical and architectural sciences.
