Biography
* 29. 01. 1962 Biel.

Johannes Bigler was born in Biel (Switzerland). He came to the trombone, directing and composing via the violin and piano. His career as trombonist began as a volunteer in the Biel Symphony Orchestra. He became bass trombonist with the Bamberger Symphoniker (Germany) following his studies in Biel, Lyon (France) and Basel, he was also a member of the Swiss Festival Orchestra. Bigler received private instruction from the conductor W. Rowicki and H. Kegel. He taught at the music school in Ebikon, at the seminar of the canton of Lucerne and lectured profusely abroad. Invitations as a soloist took him to the Czech Republic, Slovakia, France, Russia, Finland, Rumania and Bulgaria. He was invited, likewise as a soloist and guest lecturer, to the International Summer Music Festival Varna (Bulgaria) in 1998 and again in 2000.
He performed as a chamber musician in the summer of 2000 at the International Music Festival in Lucerne. He has also performed numerous world premiers of works which were dedicated especially to him. He studied four semesters of culture management. January 2005 saw his soloist's debut at the Third Festival l'art pour l'Aar in Bern and Biel.
Johannes Bigler is bass and contrabass trombonist with the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra and active as a freelance soloist, composer and conductor.
