Mahalia Kelz has been a member of the NEC since 1987 and the 'Sabeth Trio Basel' since 2000. In 1999/2000 she became solo harpist with the Basel Symphony Orchestra and, since 2001, of the Lucerne Symphony.
From 1992 until 1999 Mahalia Kelz taught in Morges (Switzerland) where she also directed an of an ensemble of 12 harpists. She has been a professor at the music academy in Basel since 1999 and gives courses in interpretation in France and the United States. Her awards include the winning of the first prize at the international competitions of Lyon in 1993, and Namur in 1997, the Louis Spohr prize awarded by the city of Seesan in 1995 as well as the second prize (no first prize was awarded) and special prize at the 'Concours d'Exécution Musicale de Genève' in 1997.
