Biography
* 02. 02. 1961.

Laurence Maria Speglitz is a violinist born in Bern, Switzerland.

Education:
Study of music at Bern Conservatory with main subject in violin under Eva Zurbrügg until graduation in 1983.
1983 until 1984 - Study in London with main subject in viola under Jan Jewel (violist in the 'Gabrieli-Quartett'). Further studies under Hansheinz Schneeberger in Basel with main subject in violin and graduation with the Concert SMPV diploma.
Postgraduate studies in improvisation, Alexander technique, methodology and teaching psychology.

Work Activities:
Teacher in private schools and numerous stand-in positions at various music schools since 1984.
Cooperation on 'Ad hoc Bern' with the CD recording of Moeschingers 'Prélude et Dialogue' 1986, conductor: Daniel Glaus.
Since 1988 - Teacher of violin and improvisation at the regional music school in Lengnau near Biel.
1989 until 1992 - Concertmistress of the Grenchen City Orchestra under the direction of Bruno Goetze.
Chamber music for various scoring with concerts at home and abroad.
1994 - Sponsorship by the Swiss culture foundation 'Pro Helvetia' for a concert in Sweden with Swedish and Swiss music.
1996 - Semi-finalist (with distinction) at the Fifth International Viennese Music Festival.
2002/3 - Participation in the master class of Volker Biesenbender and Rudolf Lutz at the Menhuin Festival in Gstaad.
CD with romantic music for violin and piano: Laurence Maria Speglitz (violin) and Daniel Beriger (piano). Published in December 2001 (including the first recording of the Ballad op. 22 by the Swiss composer Jean-Frédéric Perrenoud).
2003 - Participation on the improvisations course given by Rudolf Lutz in Romainmôtier.
Summer 2003 Concert soloist with the Biel Chamber Orchestra and further chamber music concerts with the pianists Ursula Weingart and Daniel Beriger.
Course in improvisation at the Menuhin-Festival in Gstaad 2004 with Rudolf Lutz.
