The Ensemble Fiacorda (instrumentation variable) is a string and wind instrument ensemble and consists of eight musicians. Its repertoire ranges from the classic chamber music works for octet and septet (Schubert, Beethoven etc.) to the lesser-known music of the romantic period and 20th century, including many octets and septets composed specifically for the ensemble. Music for smaller formations completes the programme selection.
Fiacorda is one of the few chamber music groups in Switzerland to continually perform in the octet formation. The ensemble has built up and cultivated its collaboration and musical profile over many years. It's 2009 tour, with concerts in Baden (Villa Boveri), Basel (Museum Kleines Klingental), Solothurn (Schloss Waldegg), Tamins (Schloss Reichenau), Berne (Zentrum Paul Klee) and Villeneuve (Eglise Saint-Paul), is intended to renew the activities of the ensemble and appeal to a musically demanding and inquisitive public.
