Biographie
* 13. 07. 1955 Hilversum (NL), † 0000, de Zürich , Schweizer und Niederländisch.

The dutch-swiss violinist Karel Boeschoten began playing the violin in Munich. He studied in Amsterdam with Herman Krebbers and in Cologne with Igor Ozim, as well as chamber music with Paul Godwin and Tibor de Machula. After playing in the Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam for several years, he went to Switzerland to join the renowned chamber orchestra Camerata Bern. He performed regularly as a soloist with this ensemble, including at Carnegie Hall in New York and during the Berliner Festwochen in the Berlin Philharmonie. He has also performed at festivals such as Athens, Bucharest, Holland Festival, Lockenhaus, Schiermonnikoog and from 2013 to 2019 at the renowned Kuhmo Festival. He was also guest concertmaster with the Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala di Milano. His great interest in contemporary music has also led him to collaborate with the Ensemble Contrechamps and the Nieuw Ensemble Amsterdam, among others. As a versatile artist, he composed his violin concerto in 2001, which he performed with great success. He is also a source of inspiration for many composers. For example, the well-known Romanian composer Dan Dediu composed the violin concerto «Nuferi» for Boeschoten. In addition to classical music, he also works with improvised music. For many years he was a member of the European Chaos String Quintet, an already legendary string quintet that has given concerts of improvised music throughout Europe. Boeschoten has also been teaching violin and improvised music at various conservatories in Europe for many years. Hungarian and Romanian folk music are also of great interest to him. As Primás (leader), he performs with his Hungarian Kalandos Ensemble at the famous Montreux Jazz Festival together with Stephan Eicher, among others. Karel Boeschoten is inspired by performances with musicians such as Joan Berkhemer, Ronald Brautigam, Thomas Demenga, Ivry Gitlis, Robert Mann and Vladimir Mendelssohn. From 1995 to 2002, Boeschoten was artistic director of the Seelscheider Tage der Musik festival (near Bonn) and from 2006 to 2016 he held the same position at the Rüttihubeliade festival (near Bern) in Switzerland.
