www.offenburgerstreichtrio.de The Offenburg String Trio was founded in 1981 in Offenburg, the hometown of its three members. The ensemble has performed in its present formation since 1987 and consists of the brothers Frank (violin) and Rolf Schilli (viola) and the cellist Martin Merker. Following initial instruction under the tutelage of members of the legendary Bartholdy Quartet, the three musicians studied with Walter Levin in Basel (LaSalle Quartet) and Hubert Buchberger in Frankfurt (Buchberger Quartet). The trio also attended master classes with the Deutschen Streichtrio and the Trio à cordes français.
The Offenburg String Trio has received awards at numerous chamber music competitions in Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands. Tours have led the musicians to many European countries as well as to Brazil, India, Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia, where the trio headed several master classes in chamber music. The ensemble has also been invited to participate in radio and tv productions on a number of occasions. The members of the Offenburg String Trio have been the artistic directors of the Offenburger Kreuzgangkonzerte since 1995 and directed the Trio Chamber Music Weeks for Amateur Ensembles in Ernen/Wallis and St. Märgen/Schwarzwald for the past few years.
