A New edition of the Piano School by Anton Wolfer.
The Wolfer School is associated with a time when music is played with much calm, understanding and playful curiosity. In addition to the technical side, it was about, is about and will always be about creating the mental and spiritual conditions needed to produce music: This school does not only teach, it educates comprehensively.
A supplement, the Vademecum, accompanies the teachers and students on their way: That which emerges step-by-step in the school, is explained and expanded upon in the supplement. It contains details of elementary theory, general music theory and form & performance theory.
With the Wolf School we also embark upon a journey through the history of music: The notated examples begin in the Baroque style, develop further in the direction of early classical and classical music and continue to the romantic period. The last piece refers to Robert Schumann's 'Von fremden Ländern und Menschen', taken from the first movement of his 'Kinderszenen'.

These 52 short pieces offer a multitude of possibilities for the player to become creatively involved musically. It concerns the continuation of a melody, the conferring of a rhythm with musical form, improvising over a bass, the transposition of short pieces or the assembly of single beats into a whole. Sometimes, however, there is nothing more to be done than to simply leave something out and at other times to do nothing at all other than play the piece as it is notated. Off then, on an unusual adventurous journey!
