Quatuor Sine Nomine was founded in Lausanne (Switzerland) in 1975 by Patrick Genet and François Gottraux (violins) Hans Egidi (viola) and Marc Jaermann (violoncello).
The ensemble was awarded the first prize, jury prize and press prize at the international competition 'le Premier Grand Prix du Concours international d'Evian'. In 1987 they received the Concours Borciani award at the first competition to be held in Reggio Emilia. Since then the Quatuor Sine Nomine has performed in all of the prestigious concert halls in Europe and America including Wigmore Hall in London, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and Carnegie Hall in New York.
Quatuor Sine Nomine has chosen to be 'nameless' in order to express its wish to serve all composers and works equally.
