Biography
* 1939.

Jean-Paul Liardet was born in Lausanne and showed an early inclination towards music. He has given concerts as pianist and composer since the age of fourteen, he was seventeen years old when his concerto for piano was first performed.
In an eclectic, polyvalent and curious way he occupied himself with anything that was in anyway connected with sound, image, or data processing with his studies at the university and Geneva Conservatory. He worked with Witold Lutoslavsky and in the field of orchestral conducting together with Igor Markevitch. He was awarded a financial prize by the city of Madrid as conductor of the orchestra 'RTV Espagnole'.
He became an orchestra conductor in Germany and apportioned his time between symphony music and opera. A deep wish for continual re-newel is mirrored in his activities as conductor, instructor and composer - this is also evident in his interest for folklore, electronic music, jazz and rock. Working for ten years as a film producer he specialised in music and didactic film. In 1978 he received the Home Office Film Prize for the best commissioned film with his film 'La Nostalgie du Souvenir'.
