Biography
Born in Geneva, Andréas Stauder studied at the conservatory there under the tutelage of Eric Gaudibert and Jean Balissat and received the "Prix de Composition" with special mention by the jury in 2001. He subsequently worked together with Klaus Huber and Nadir Vassena (Swiss Italian Conservatory, Lugano) as well as with Salvatore Sciarrino (Ictus Composition Seminary) and made an internship for composition and musical informatics at the IRCAM.
He was awarded the prize of the Kiefer-Hablitzel Foundation, the Edmund Pendleton Prize and the prize of the "Conseil d'Etat de la Ville de Genève". Thanks to the foundations of Simon I.Patiño and A.R.J. Leenaards, he was able to remain in Paris for two years, one of them he spent at the Cité Internationale des Arts.
His works have been played at the following festivals: "Tage für Neue Musik Zürich 2004", "Europäischer Musikmonat 2001" and "Archipel" 2000 and 2002 by the ensembles "Recherche" and "Contrechamps". He has recieved commissions from "Pro Helvetia" to write for the "Kammerorchester Basel" and the "Ensemble für neue Musik Zürich". Two of his works have been recorded by the "Ensemble TaG" and the "Arte Quartet" on the Grammont label. He was dedicated a portrait transmission by Swiss radio (DRS2) in the series "Musik heute".
