Pierre Sublet was born in Switzerland in 1954 and studied piano in Geneva in the class of Harry Datyner where he received the 'prix de virtuosité', he subsequently studied twentieth century music under Claude Helffer in Paris.
He has received numerous prizes as a soloist and chamber musician at national and international contests and currently performs in concerts throughout Europe, the United States and South America - he can also be heard on numerous recordings by radio and television. Pierre Sublet has been invited to head piano and pianoforte masterclasses by numerous institutions in Europe, Brazil, Bolivia and China. He was a director of the conservatory, later the School of Music in Bienne/Bern, from 1984 until 2001. He founded the 'atelier de musique contemporaine' in 1989 and founded a pedagogic project in Bolivia which, since 1998, is in collaboration with the school of music, 'Pro Helvetica' and the Sugar University. He is currently a professor for piano and contemporary chamber music and heads courses in musical theatre. He was vice-president of the Swiss Association of Musicians until 2001. Pierre Sublet has participated in numerous projects with young musicians, for example as the artistic director of the Paul Klee Ensemble since 2003. He specialises in music of the second half of the twentieth century and has performed dozens of world premieres. Furthermore Pierre Sublet shows a specific interest in the repertoire of the eighteenth century and the first half of the nineteenth century performed on instruments of the time; pianofortes or clavichords.
